Young Artist Apprenticeship Program

David Acevedo is one of southwest Florida’s most prominent visual artists, as well as an entrepreneur, business administrator and exhibition curator. He’s dedicated decades to promoting and sponsoring the local artists of the area through multiple venues and events. Acevedo’s focus remains clear, as he continues to support our creative community through the sharing of self-financed resources and donation of his time.

The apprenticeship program aims to help a young artist (age 21 to 26) learn and practice the beginning to intermediate stages of a an independent, career-oriented creative.  During the 12-month long process, the participant will work alongside Acevedo in studio and gallery settings, learning through hands-on practice and invaluable insight provided by the experienced artist. The plan consists of basic development of medium and establishment of concepts, leading to an individual exhibition at Acevedo’s DAAS CO-OP Art Gallery. The apprentice will have this time to develop and produce a cohesive body of work and portfolio to use in all artistic future endeavors.

The selection for the next 12-month apprenticeship term will be done on December 2023. The official program starts January 2024, ending in December 2024.

Anyone interested to apply must submit a letter of interest via email to acevedostudio@yahoo.com including:

  • website or at least 4 images in JPEG format of recent work
  • a statement explaining the reasons for the interest
